Break-even Bottle No. 6 | Redbreast 21 Year Single Pot Still | The Cottage
September 29 | 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Our break-even bottles are exquisite and rare, outside of what you’ll typically see on menus. One of those drinks that you savor and immediately want to share with your best friend. We feel the same way and want to share these with you, so we’re selling these bottles in 1 oz. pours for cost. (Which is, legally speaking, the lowest we can go.) Tuesdays only, we open the bottle at 4p and sell 1 oz pours until it’s gone.
Reservations (https://resy.com/cities/bol/the-cottage-bothell) recommended but not required.
Bottle No. 6 will be Redbreast 21 Year Single Pot Still! Using a style of Pot Still whiskey reflective of the Midleton Distillery tradition, Redbreast 21 represents the ultimate expression of Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. The 21 year ageing process introduces new levels of depth, flavor and taste, creating a complex and rewarding whiskey. Abundantly aromatic and fruitful, and produced in very limited quantities, this 21 year old Redbreast is a joy to behold in each and every bottle.
Scoring a near perfect 97/100, Murray, a world-renowned whisky and whiskey expert, described the Redbreast 21 as “one of the most wonderful noses on this planet” which helps make it “one of the world’s most beautiful and iconic whiskeys.” This placement is the best result for an Irish entrant in Whisky Bible history and only the second time an Irish whiskey made the top three.
Complex tropical leaning fruit with strong notes of vanilla, spice, honey and that wonderful lightly coppered single pot still character. Lighter notes of apples and dark sweets like caramel and brittle haunt the background along with a light bit of wood.
Same complex tropical leaning fruit from the nose slides through on the palate and again is accompanied by notes of vanilla, spice, a rich single pot still character and a stronger woody presence than the nose. A touch of honey, citrus and a light earthy quality team up with a bit of mint to add interesting facets to this complex palate.
Spice, vanilla and toasted nuts give way to a sweet and coppery single pot still character that fades out nice and slow.
Perfectly balanced with a rich full body and thick supple texture. It’s a fantastic drinking experience.
