World Affairs Council Marks 75 Years with Summer Wine Tasting @ Chateau Lill
Wednesday August 5, 2026
05:30 pm - 08:00 pm
The World Affairs Council of Seattle will host a Summer Wine Tasting in the gardens of Chateau Lill as part of the Council’s 75th Anniversary series. Every ticket sold supports the Council’s mission.
Themed “People-to-People Diplomacy Matters,” the event honors homestay hosts, dinner diplomacy hosts, and local professionals who build connection with visiting international delegations each year.
Guests will gather in the gardens and on the patio of Chateau Lill, a European-inspired estate overlooking the Sammamish Valley wine country, to sample pours from a distinguished lineup of Woodinville-area wine partners, paired with light bites from a celebrated local chef.
Partners include:
• Chateau Lill & Lill Family Wines — the evening’s host venue, and, for more than 25 years, a pioneering force in Washington winemaking through DeLille Cellars. Lill Family Wines continues that legacy today.
• Dossier Wine Collective — a Walla Walla luxury wine brand founded in 2021 by former Seattle Seahawk and Super Bowl champion Sidney Rice, alongside business partner Tim Lenihan.
• JM Cellars — a family-owned Woodinville winery producing handcrafted, limited-release wines since 1998, sourced from premier Washington vineyards with a commitment to sustainable, Salmon Safe-certified practices.
• Heritage Restaurant — One of Woodinville’s beloved community gathering spots, led by acclaimed chef-owner Breanna Beike, providing small bites for the evening.
“Global understanding is built one relationship, one conversation at a time,” said Jacqueline Miller, President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Seattle. “Whether welcoming an international visitor into their home, hosting a dinner, or sharing professional expertise, every year, hundreds of people across our community help create the connections that make people-to-people diplomacy possible. These exchanges have been at the heart of the World Affairs Council’s mission since 1951, and as we celebrate our 75th anniversary, they remain one of the most powerful ways we build mutual understanding in an increasingly complex world.”
“Chateau Lill has always been about bringing people together—over a shared table, a shared glass of wine—and that’s exactly what the World Affairs Council has done for 75 years, connecting our region to the world one relationship at a time,” said Greg Lill, Founder & Co-President, Chateau Lill, Honorary Consul of Monaco, and member of the World Affairs Council. “We’re honored to host this evening and to bring together such a remarkable group of Woodinville wine and food partners in support of that mission.”
Tickets are $125 for general admission and $50 for World Affairs Council members, who also enjoy discounted access to programs and events throughout the year. Complimentary round-trip transportation from downtown Seattle will be provided by Starline Luxury Coaches, and limited on-site parking is available. The event is for guests 21 and older.
The Summer Wine Tasting is part of the World Affairs Council’s 75th Anniversary Series, presented with the support of series sponsor APCO Worldwide. Proceeds support the Council’s mission to advance global understanding in Washington through education, exchange, and public programming.
