Silk painting is an ancient art form that originated in Asia and involves applying colors and patterns to silk fabric using brushes, dyes, resists, and other tools.
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
Prepare your silk for painting.
Sketch and transfer your design onto your silk using a pencil or a water-based resist.
Apply dyes to your silk using different methods, such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry or salt.
Fix and finish your silk painting by steaming, rinsing and drying.
Students can choose to paint a silk scarf or a 16 x 20 silk painting suitable for hanging.
