While spring may not have fully sprung here in Woodinville and the Pacific Northwest (yet), it is definitely in the air.

And that (as usual) means … wine … specifically, attending the upcoming 2017 WineCraft: Spring Wine Auction here in Woodinville Wine County.

The 2017 WineCraft: Spring Wine Auction is the perfect way for Washington wine connoisseurs to spend a luxuriously lazy Sunday afternoon and honor some of Woodinville’s most prominent winemakers. Complete with award-winning wines, attendees can expect to enjoy live music and nicely portioned noshes from local chefs.

What’s more, there will be an auction – one that includes specialty wines such as top-tier, specialty reserve, and limited release, as well as new blends.

Not to mention the experiential auction items.

Take the auction package from Love That Red Winery – a small, boutique winery with a horse racing-themed brand that was founded in 2013, and opened in 2015 with those 2013 vintage releases:

“THE DAILY DOUBLE” 2-Day Package

DAY 1 – WINERY DAY: A Barrel & Current Release Tasting for up to 10 with the winemaker at a private winery; the winner takes home “THE PICK SIX” (auction winner may pick a mix of any 6 bottles as a combo to take home after the tasting).

DAY 2 – TRACK DAY: A day at the races in open air box seats for 6 during the 2017 Emerald Downs Live Racing season, which takes place from April through September. (The auction winner must schedule with the winery owner two weeks in advance to reserve the best seat location.)

Love That Red Winery is a red wine-only winery. Says co-proprietor and winemaker Terry Wells of his wines in a recent email interview:

“[The] [w]inemaking style is focused on blending complexity, utilizing a variety of vineyard sites to create intrigue and uniqueness in the glass…. [The] brand is a marriage of two passions that combine the love of world-class red wines with the sport of kings … horseracing.”

Why participate in this auction with such a great auction item? Terry went on to say this:

“We’ve always found great joy and innocence in children regardless of their circumstances. Any resources that benefit children’s health, well being, and education we love to be a part of. It’s such a precious time of life and we’d like to see every child have hope and their hearts filled with optimism about their future.”

Note that the auction proceeds from this event will go to the Woodinville Wine Country Association; however, the “Raise the Paddle” portion of the auction will directly benefit the Northshore Schools Foundation.

Hope to see you at WineCraft next month – Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at the Columbia Winery from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

(Tickets are just $60 per person.)
