Novelty Hill-Januik has appointed hospitality industry veteran Maureen “Mo” Shaw as the winery’s new general manager. In her position, Shaw will oversee a team of professionals leading the winery’s tasting room, culinary program, events venue, wine club, and direct-to-consumer sales.
Prior to joining Novelty Hill-Januik, Shaw led the award-winning restaurant program at Farestart, an organization dedicated to job training programs to alleviate poverty, hunger, and homelessness. She came to Farestart from Dsquared Hospitality Company, an upscale catering business. Before working for Dsquared, Shaw spent 16 years as general manager at Ray’s Boathouse, an iconic Seattle restaurant known for its comprehensive dining, private events, and wine program.
“Mo has both a heart and a head for hospitality,” says Januik owner and winemaker Mike Januik. “She has dedicated her career to providing exceptional guest experiences through hands-on, relational leadership. We are thrilled to have her on board.”
Shaw is a resident of Seattle, Wash. In her free time, she and her husband are home winemakers, crafting a small amount of wine each season to enjoy with family and friends. Mo also enjoys gardening and forging organic vegetables.
Novelty Hill and Januik are two independent wineries sharing an architecturally stunning tasting room and state-of-the-art production facility, as well as the talents of veteran winemaker Mike Januik. The winery is open for tastings by appointment from 11-5 daily. For more information, visit the website or follow the winery on Facebook or Instagram.
