Barrel Wine Tours is a marketing organization created to spread the word about the great wines of Washington.

Woodinville is located just 30 minutes from Seattle. What most people don’t realize is that the wine is actually grown three to four hours away, on the other side of the state.

Because Woodinville is home to more than 160 wineries and tasting rooms, guests can experience the entire state of Washington wine in one small town.

“All of the people that are involved in Barrel Wine Tours actually are immersed in the wine industry in other ways. They might be winemakers or work in tasting rooms, so we all share a passion for Washington wine,” said Cindy Egan, Barrel Wine Tours founder.

One of the things unique to this tour is visitors can meet actual winemakers, like Morgan Lee of Covington Cellars and Two Vintners, and chat about the wines they are tasting.

“So believe it or not, we’re actually the same latitude as France,” Lee said. “The soils and the elevation and the heat of Eastern Washington really lends itself to growing world-class grapes here in the Northwest.”

If you want to go to Seattle, do what Living808’s Trini Kaopuiki and John Veneri did and hop on an Alaska Airlines flight. The airline offers daily nonstop service to Seattle from Lihue, Honolulu, Kahului, and Kona.>>>View the entire article and video on KHON2
