March in Washington means one thing: incredible wine, unforgettable food, and a lineup of events that bring it all together. Taste Washington Month is officially underway, and this weekend is the heart of it.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to dive into Washington wine and food, this is it.

What’s Happening This Weekend

Pacific Standard | Thursday, March 19

Kick things off with a true taste of the Pacific Northwest. This event pairs some of the region’s best seafood with Washington’s standout white wines, rosés, and sparkling pours. Think oysters, crab, and fresh coastal flavors alongside crisp, vibrant wines. It’s a perfect introduction to what makes this region so special.

The New Vintage | Friday, March 20

This is where things shift into a more elevated, high-energy experience. The New Vintage is a late-night celebration with live music, great wine, cocktails, and a dressed-up crowd. It’s part party, part showcase of Washington’s modern wine scene, and a great way to experience the culture around it.

The Seminars | Saturday, March 21

For anyone who wants to go deeper, this is where the magic happens. These sessions bring together winemakers, sommeliers, and industry experts for guided tastings and conversations. You’ll taste rare wines, learn directly from the people behind them, and walk away with a whole new appreciation for what’s in your glass.

The Grand Tasting | Saturday & Sunday, March 21–22

This is the main event. More than 200 Washington wineries and 75 restaurants come together under one roof for a full-scale tasting experience.

You’ll move from booth to booth tasting wines, trying bites from top chefs, and discovering new favorites along the way. There’s something for everyone here, whether you’re just getting into wine or already know what you like.

Saturday is already sold out, but there are still limited tickets available for Sunday.

Why This Weekend Matters

There’s no better way to experience Washington than through its food and wine. Everything that makes this region special shows up here, from the people behind the bottles to the flavors on the plate.

It’s not just about tasting wine. It’s about seeing the full picture of what Washington does so well.

If you’re planning to go, don’t wait on tickets. And if you’re visiting the area, this weekend is the perfect reason to explore, taste, and experience it all.

Taste Washington Month is happening all March, and wine lovers across the state are celebrating everything that makes Washington wine special.

Where Wine Meets Romance in Woodinville

There’s something about wine country that slows everything down. Maybe it’s the clink of glasses across a tasting room. Maybe it’s live music drifting through the evening air. Or maybe it’s the way weekends feel a little longer in her in Woodinville.

This February, we asked our community to share their Woodinville love stories. From first dates to surprise proposals and even weddings, these stories all have one thing in common: Woodinville Wine Country became part of the journey.

Here are three real love stories that remind us why Woodinville is more than a destination. It’s where memories are made.

From Metallica to “Yes” at The SOMM

Their love story didn’t begin in a tasting room. It began at a Metallica concert.

After striking up a conversation and instantly hitting it off, one of their first dates took them wine tasting in Woodinville. What started as a simple outing quickly became a weekend tradition filled with wine, great food, and live music.

Over the next year and a half, Woodinville became their place.

In November, that tradition turned into something unforgettable. At The SOMM Hotel & Spa, surrounded by the ambiance they had grown to love, he surprised her with a proposal.

They celebrated with champagne on the rooftop and visits to a few favorite tasting rooms with friends. Woodinville will always be the place where their love story found its next chapter.

Monica + Scott

A First Tasting at Chateau Ste. Michelle

When they first started dating, he brought her to her very first wine tasting at Chateau Ste. Michelle.

She was instantly hooked, on him and on wine.

From that moment on, wine tasting became their tradition. Every year they grabbed their Woodinville Wine Passport and explored new favorites across the region together.

In September 2023, he recreated their very first date and proposed on a hike. She said yes.

And of course, they celebrated the only way that felt right: wine tasting at Goose Ridge Winery.

Later, Fidelitas completely stole their hearts. They joined the wine club and even added a wine fund to their wedding registry. Because for them, it wouldn’t be love without wine country.

From Wine Passport Dates to a Woodinville Wedding

Andy and I fell in love in Woodinville, hopping between tasting rooms with our Wine Passport in hand.

We got engaged just six months after we started dating.

Not long after, we bought a home right here in Woodinville. We received the keys on a Wednesday, and that Saturday, surrounded by our parents and siblings, we were married in our living room, exactly one year after our first date.

Two years later, we celebrated the way we had always imagined: with all our friends and family at Novelty Hill Januik Winery, just after their beautiful outdoor renovations.

Now we’re preparing for our first “baby”… a bar baby. This summer, we hope to open the doors to Bong Bóng Bar in the new Harvest Development.

We love Woodinville. And it has been part of every chapter.

A Fresh Voice Behind the Wine List

There is a fresh face behind the wine list at The Barking Frog, and it is one worth getting excited about. Please welcome Beth Hickey, the new Wine Director and Sommelier at the acclaimed Woodinville restaurant located inside Willows Lodge.

Beth brings more than fifteen years of experience in luxury dining and wine, with a career that spans restaurants, distributors, and wine suppliers. She has led wine programs at some of Seattle’s most respected restaurants, including El Gaucho, and has worked with industry leaders such as Daniel’s Broiler, Winebow, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and E.&J. Gallo. That broad, full-circle experience shapes how she approaches wine programs, guest experience, and hospitality at The Barking Frog.

At The Barking Frog, Beth oversees an award-winning, sommelier- and chef-driven wine list designed to complement the restaurant’s seasonal, Pacific Northwest-inspired cuisine. Her philosophy centers on balance and approachability. Guests can expect wines that pair beautifully with the menu, along with thoughtful recommendations that feel welcoming whether you are a seasoned wine lover or simply curious to explore something new.
Explore dining in Woodinville Wine Country

Beyond the dining room, Beth is also a wine writer, regional wine competition judge, and lifelong student of hospitality. When she is not curating the wine list or connecting with guests, she enjoys reading, writing, and spending time in the mountains or on ferry rides to the islands. That sense of curiosity and place carries through in the guest experiences she creates.

The next time you dine at The Barking Frog in Woodinville, take a moment to explore the wine list or ask for a recommendation. With Beth Hickey leading the wine program, every glass is chosen with intention, and every pairing is part of the experience.

Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington’s largest and most well-known winery, has officially been sold to the Wyckoff family. The sale closed on December 4 and marks the first time in more than 50 years that Ste. Michelle Wine Estates will be owned by a Washington-based family.

The Wyckoffs are longtime partners of Ste. Michelle, working with the company since the early 1980s through Wyckoff Farms and Coventry Vale Winery in Grandview. Their purchase includes all Ste. Michelle Wine Estates brands, facilities, vineyards, and inventory. This covers Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest, 14 Hands, Liquid Light, Spring Valley, Northstar, and other Washington labels.

Court Wyckoff, CEO of Wyckoff Farms, called the acquisition a once-in-a-generation opportunity to carry forward one of the Northwest’s most iconic wine legacies. Ste. Michelle leaders shared similar enthusiasm, noting that local family ownership brings the company back to its roots and reinforces a long-term commitment to Washington’s wine industry.

The winery was previously owned by Sycamore Partners, a New York private equity firm that purchased Ste. Michelle Wine Estates in 2021.

The Wyckoff family, now in its third generation of agricultural leadership, brings decades of experience in premium wine grape growing and custom winemaking across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Their long history with Ste. Michelle positions them to continue supporting local growers and investing in the future of Washington wine.
