Born and raised in Kona, Hawaii, Chef Kaku discovered his love for cooking as a high school senior and honed his craft at the University of Hawaii at West Hawaii, earning a degree in Culinary Arts. His celebrated Pan Pacific heritage is reflected in his culinary approach, which blends techniques and flavors inspired by the rich traditions of the Pacific region.
Chef Kaku’s distinguished career includes working alongside legendary chefs like Wolfgang Puck at Spago and other iconic establishments such as Chinois and Postrio. He later opened Spago Maui at the Four Seasons, further cementing his reputation as a culinary innovator.
